The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Barriere Construction, LLC has mobilized construction crews to Belleville Street in the McDonogh neighborhood. Crews will be repaving Belleville Street from Socrates Street to Opelousas Street in asphalt. The approximately $350,000 repaving project will take about three months to complete.
The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt pavement;
- Repairing damaged catch basins and drain lines;
- Installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at appropriate intersections;
- Making minimal sidewalk, driveway apron and foot lap adjustments; and
- Adding roadway striping (Crosswalks)
Belleville is the first of several Westbank bond-funded projects scheduled to be repaired this year. Throughout the duration of construction, parking may be limited within the construction zone. Please plan to park at other locations and expect traffic delays/additional time to reach your destination.
In general, construction crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday work may occur when inclement weather prevents work from occurring as scheduled during the previous week. Residents are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near active construction sites.
