In advance of the second phase of the St. Charles Ave. (Louisiana Avenue to Napoleon Avenue) repaving project, the Department of Public Works and its contractors met with residents, business owners and community leaders on May 2.
The $1.3M St. Charles Avenue Repaving project is a joint effort between the City of New Orleans and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. It was designed by Linfield, Hunter and Junius, LLC and will be constructed by Barriere Construction, LLC.
The project began late-May and includes the following scope of work:
- Trimming trees to prepare for construction;
- Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at intersections;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks adjacent to ADA ramps; and
- Replacing street tiles.
The City hosted a pre-construction public meeting in April to discuss the project’s construction sequencing and anticipated impacts. View a copy of the public meeting presentation here.
