City contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC completed placing asphalt throughout the Lakeview North Group A project in April – including the 6300 block of Marshall Foch Street and the 6500 block of General Haig Street. This moves the project to 91 percent complete with the original plans.
The City is awaiting FEMA approval on additional work that was not included in the original plans. The additional areas of construction, which will promote positive drainage and address sidewalk and roadway subsidence, would extend the project by four months into summer 2018.
Through mid-May, crews will continue pouring Americans with Disabilities Act compliant-curb ramps at the intersections of Memphis, Porteous, General Haig, and Bragg streets. They will also complete asphalt paving and patching on Chapelle and Catina streets.
The $2.3M project is designed to correct multiple roadway concerns. The scope of work varies block by block, but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
Details of the construction sequencing and timeline were first made available during a pre-construction public meeting. View a copy of the public meeting presentation and details about construction sequencing here.
