Public safety is our priority as we continue our infrastructure work during this trying time for our city. With hurricane season now under way, we are working with our contractors to ensure that their plans are finalized to secure sites ahead of any tropical weather event.
The well-being of the crews working at our myriad job sites is also paramount, which is why we are in constant communication with our contractors to ensure that all workers are washing hands regularly, practicing social distancing on sites and furthermore staying home if they are feeling sick in any way.
On our capital side, we currently have 15 projects under construction valued at more than $77M. Between maintenance projects and RoadworkNOLA (Joint Infrastructure Program), we currently have 26 DPW projects under construction valued at nearly $160M. Work is continuing on all of these projects.
In the next 60 days, we will have approximately $200M worth of Joint Infrastructure projects going out to bid and $20M worth of capital projects going out to bid. Again, we will continue to thoughtfully move forward.
The RoadworkNOLA success stories highlighted in this newsletter include:
District A: As part of the $7.1M Hagan-Lafitte construction project, work will begin this month to connect the new, upsized drainage into the St. Louis canal. This work is part of a series of features in the project that will help reduce localized flooding and store stormwater during large rain events.
District B: The $4M Freret Group A project completed work around the Ochsner campus last month; crews are currently repaving along Upperline and Robert streets.
District C: Roadway projects continue throughout Algiers as another $191K maintenance project begins on Lawrence and Sumner streets. Work includes street and sidewalk repairs.
District D: The $6.3M Filmore North Group A project is nearing completion. The next project in that neighborhood, the $4.2M Filmore North Group B project, is slated to begin in June.
District E: Several blocks of roadway construction has been completed as part of the $14M Little Woods Group A project, including the majority of Wales Street. Currently crews are working on paving operations on the west end of the project working their way to the east end (Dowman Road to Bullard Avenue).
Sincerely,
