The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works today reduced traffic lanes on both the northbound and southbound sides of the Mayo Bridges over the Morrison Canal as a temporary safety measure following an inspection earlier this week. Public safety is our priority; commuters are advised to use caution around water barrels and safety barricades.
The lane reductions, which are tentatively scheduled to last through summer until an emergency bridge contractor can repair the decks, will prohibit buses and trucks from traveling over the bridges. Small personal vehicles including SUVs, however, may still safely use the northbound and southbound sides of the Mayo Bridges.
