On Monday, May 17, 2021, beginning at 7 a.m., weather permitting, City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' contractor, Command Construction Industries, LLC., will temporarily close North Rocheblave Street from Dumaine Street to St. Phillip Street for approximately six weeks to perform underground waterline and sewer line operations, as well as roadway restoration as part of the Treme-Lafitte Group B infrastructure improvement project. Residents on this block have already been notified about the closure via a neighborhood canvass.
Public safety is our priority; road closure signs will be in place throughout construction. During this time, street parking and/or driveway access will be impacted. Residents and visitors are advised to adhere to “No Parking” signs on the streets to avoid being ticketed and towed. Use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near the construction site.
The $8M Treme-Lafitte Group B infrastructure improvement project calls for removing and replacing existing water and drainage lines, repairing the sewer line, repaving the roadway in asphalt, replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons and installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in spring 2022.
Since May 2018, DPW has completed 94 projects with an estimated value of $260 million. Today, 65 projects are under construction with an estimated value of $602 million.
