The City of New Orleans’s identified additional areas of work within the Lakeview North Group A project in an effort to promote positive drainage. Scope additions require Environmental and Historical Preservation (EHP) review from FEMA, therefore Hard Rock Construction crews temporarily demobilized from the site. The additional work was approved and is being funded by FEMA.
On November 13 crews resumed sidewalk work in some areas throughout the project limits - Harrison Avenue to Robert E. Lee Boulevard and West End Boulevard to Orleans Avenue. No further delays of this kind are anticipated.
Additional work varies by block but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repave the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks.
- Patch Concrete: Remove damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement.
- Incidental Road Repairs: Remove damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement.
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repair damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
Despite the additional work, the now ~$3.5M project is still on schedule to be completed in spring 2018.
