Construction crews are scheduled to begin work on the Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group A project in January 2018. Bounded by Florida Avenue, Caffin Avenue, N. Claiborne Avenue and the St. Bernard Parish line, this is the second of several FEMA-funded construction projects that will improve infrastructure in the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood.
The project was awarded to Beverly Construction and is being designed by the architectural firm of Neel - Schaffer, Inc. The construction project includes the following types of work:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repave the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks.
- Patch Concrete: Remove damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement.
- Incidental Road Repairs: Remove damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement.
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repair damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
The City will host a public meeting to discuss general construction sequencing and construction impacts residents can expect during the project. For more information about future road projects in your neighborhood visit our website.
