The St. Charles Ave. Repaving Project, designed to remove and replace damaged portions of the asphalt roadway between Louisiana Avenue and Calliope Street, is ahead of schedule at 80 percent completion.
In November, Boh Bros. Construction crews began a series of lane closures and lane shifts to facilitate patching, milling and asphalt placement on both the east and westbound lanes on St. Charles Avenue from Felicity to Calliope streets, which is scheduled to last through early-January. Signage and traffic control measures remain onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians. Crews continue working with businesses and residents to minimize disruptions during this third and final phase of construction.
This $4.3M repaving project is a joint effort between the City of New Orleans and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The scope of work includes:
- Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
