Durr Heavy Construction, LLC crews are currently working in the Algiers Point neighborhood and using a portion of the batture area as a staging and laydown yard. The staging area is contractually required to be returned to its original condition at the conclusion of construction.
Crews are currently removing damaged concrete panels and are beginning to frame Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps curb ramps and sidewalks.
The Westbank Group A project is the first of two planned FEMA-funded construction projects on the Westbank of New Orleans. This first project was designed by Richard C. Lambert Consultants, LLC and includes approximately $3.7 million in construction work throughout the Westbank. The construction value is expected to increase this month as the project team addresses constructability issues.

The type of work planned varies by block but includes the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repave the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Remove damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Remove damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repair damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
