Barriere Construction crews worked weekends during November to remain on schedule on the $9.1M Central City Group A project. Crews will continue sewer work on S. Derbigny (First Street to Josephine Street), S. Rocheblave (Toledano Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard) and First Street (Loyola Avenue to S. Liberty Street). Residents will continue to be informed ahead of any work that will involve utility disruption and/or impact their parking and access to their streets.
The project will be constructed by Barriere Construction Company.
This project is a full-depth reconstruction and was designed by C.H. Fenstermaker and Associates, LLC. The scope of work varies block by block but includes the following:
- Replace damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repave the roadway;
- Replace damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Install Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The City of New Orleans hosted a virtual community meeting via WebEx in August 2020 to discuss anticipated impacts to the community. View a copy of the presentation here.
