Beverly Construction began work on the $2.1M Bayou St John, Fairgrounds, Seventh Ward Group D infrastructure improvement project this summer. Crews are currently working on drain and sewer work on Chalfant Place and Wilshire Place. Weekend and after-hours work has been approved in order for the contractor to make up for time lost to inclement weather. The extended hours allow for the contractor to complete critical work in timely manner, minimizing the amount of time construction impacts residents.
The community will continue to be informed ahead of any work that will involve utility disruption and / or impact their parking and access to their streets. Residents are asked to continue to be mindful of “No Parking” signs installed prior to roadwork. Vehicles are eligible for towing if not moved within 24 hours of signs being placed. Residents requiring reasonable accommodations should call the RoadworkNOLA hotline for assistance.
This project was designed by Urban Systems Associates, Inc. and expected to be completed in spring 2022.
The scope of work varies by block and includes the following:
- Replace damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repave the roadway;
- Replace damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Install Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The City of New Orleans hosted a virtual community meeting via Webex in March 2021 to discuss anticipated impacts to the community. View a copy of the presentation here. To be added to the project contact list and track our progress, visit roadwork.nola.gov.
