Through close collaboration with the Department of Public Works (DPW), Command Construction began planning for work along Downman Road that will require a temporary traffic shift on the $6.4M Viavant-Lake Catherine Group C project this fall. Residents and businesses will be notified before work begins.
This work was moved to the end of the project in an effort to minimize impact to residents, businesses and commuters.
The contractor is also working on paving operations along Industrial Parkway and Old Gentilly Road.
This project was designed by All South Consulting Engineers, LLC and is being constructed by Command Construction Industries, LLC. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2021.
The scope of work varies by block and includes the following:
- Patch Mill/Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repair damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replace it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replace it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
The City of New Orleans hosted a virtual community meeting via Webex in July 2020 to discuss anticipated impacts to the community. View a copy of the presentation here. To be added to the project contact list and track our progress, visit roadwork.nola.gov.
