City of New Orleans contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC. is working to complete ashaplt palcement on Marcia Avenue this month as part of the Lakewood Group A Patch, Mill, Overlay and Incidental Road Repair project. Upon completion of water line tie-ins in the area, crews immediately began the milling and paving process on the roadway. Weather permitting, the asphalt roadway will be completed before the end of October – in time for the annual Halloween celebration. Residents will continue to be notified in advance of any scheduled work that will restrict access to their streets and/or driveways.
The scope of work for this $1.6M project varies by block but will include the following:
- Patching the roadway with asphalt;
- Replacing damaged portions of concrete with new, level concrete;
- Repairing damaged curbs and gutters;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections; and
- Replacing/repairing damaged underground water and drainage lines.
The project is currently 42 percent complete. Details of the construction sequencing and timeline were first made available at the pre-construction public meeting. View a copy of the public meeting presentation and details about construction sequencing here.
