Barriere Construction and their subcontractor, Dieudonne Enterprises, Inc., have completed 71 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps on St. Charles Avenue (streetcar track area). Crews are now preparing to asphalt the roadway throughout the month of October.
The project, a joint effort between the City of New Orleans and the Louisiana Department of Transportation, is currently 79 percent complete. The project is expected to end in the late fall of 2018.
This $1.3M project, designed by Linfield, Hunter, and Junius, LLC, includes the following scope of work:
- Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at intersections;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks adjacent to ADA ramps;
- Patching in preparation for the next phase of construction; and
- Replacing street tiles.
