The $3.3 million Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is approximately 70 percent complete. The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC. The project is scheduled to be completed at the end of the year.
The lake bound lane of Michoud Boulevard between Chef Menteur Highway and Dwyer Road is complete and open to traffic. New sidewalk portions are planned to include flexible pavement, the format of which will allow tree roots to continue to receive nutrients, helping ensure a healthy tree canopy. A small section by the cofferdam and pump will be replaced upon completion of pumping.
On the southbound lane between Lourdes Street and Dwyer Road, drainage work is ongoing and sewer work will follow.
To assist with security issues and traffic concerns, a Peace Officer will be available onsite. Traffic control signs and barrels are in place to keep residents and commuters safe. Please mind the traffic control signs and barricades, and never move them from their assigned locations.
The reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
