The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works and Sewerage & Water Board began a full reconstruction project on Bourbon Street from St. Louis to Dumaine streets (500-800 blocks) in September 2018. The $9.5 million cost-shared project was designed by Mott McDonald, LLC and is being constructed by Hard Rock Construction, LLC. Project partners include Entergy Electric, Entergy Gas, Cox Communications and AT&T.
The project is now substantially complete. The contractor has fully reconstructed the roadway between St. Louis and Dumaine streets (500-800 blocks) with upsized drainage, a better sewer system, new sidewalks and new, smoother pavement. Additionally, the lighting and security have been upgraded between St. Louis and Dumaine streets. Entergy Gas and Entergy Electric have also completed upgrades in those blocks. The remainder of the project is anticipated to be complete by mid-November.
While crews were completing a sewer point repair in the St. Ann intersection in September, the condition of the sewer line prompted an additional assessment between Dauphine and Bourbon, which indicated that the section of roadway needs a full reconstruction. Full reconstruction will likely begin in the fall, after the 800 block of Bourbon Street is complete. Entergy Gas, Entergy Electric & AT&T crews are currently upgrading their facilities on St. Ann Street.
