The Gentilly Resilience District (GRD) is a combination of resilience programs and projects in the targeted area of Gentilly that are designed to reduce flood risk, slow land subsidence, improve energy reliability and spur neighborhood revitalization.

The Blue & Green Corridors project is being designed to combine rainfall management with symbiotic community benefits.  Updates to the urban landscape along strategic “corridors” will create multimodal transportation connections, waterways that will retain rainfall, as well as public social spaces in the GRD!

Boh Bros Construction Co, LLC crews, in close collaboration with Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, plan to begin tying in the newly installed water lines on the Lake Terrace and Oaks Group D  project in October. This schedule was adjusted to accommodate days lost to inclement weather and the need to coordinate underground utility relocations with residential cable providers. Crews are currently working on Oriole Street and will continue to inform residents ahead of any work that will involve utility disruption and/or impact their parking and access to their street.

Command Construction crews continued to install new water lines in October, completing work on Elysian Fields between Mendez and Odin, and starting the same process on Filmore Avenue between Franklin and Eads. Additional drainage work crews are also being added to the team.

The $6.3M Treme-Lafitte Group A infrastructure and road improvement project continued to make progress in October as crews completed installation of asphalt on Governor Nicholls Street and replaced concrete in the 2300-2500 blocks of St. Philip Street. Work also continues on North Johnson from Esplanade to Orleans Avenue, as crews make drainage point repairs throughout the area.
