The Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project is approximately 20 percent complete. Last month construction crews completed paving the portion of Michoud Blvd. between Chef Menteur Hwy., and the Michoud Bridge.
Construction crews are currently building new sewer and water manholes and installing a new water line on the northbound travel lane between the Michoud Bridge and Lourdes Street. Work on the sewer main in the neutral ground will resume when construction reaches Dwyer Rd.
The $3.8M reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turn around on Dwyer Rd.;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Hwy. to Dwyer Rd.;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Rd., and repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Hwy.; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC and scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.
