Command Construction Industries, LLC crews have now completed 78 percent of the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
The north-bound travel lane is complete. South-bound (river-bound) traffic has been re-routed to Pontchartrain Boulevard as crews work on placing pavement and installing new utilities.
New utilities between Old Hammond Highway and 40th Street have been installed, and crews continue to place new concrete pavement on the roadbed.
Utility work continues on the south-bound (river-bound) lane between 40th and 30th streets with plans to complete all underground utility work in the next month. Sidewalk work will follow the concrete roadway installation.
Residents are reminded to use caution when walking, biking and driving through active construction sites and to be mindful of onsite traffic detour signage, safety barrels and cones.
The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2018, weather permitting. The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
