The Canal Boulevard Full Depth Reconstruction Project began on in August. The northbound side of Canal between Robert E. Lee Blvd. and Amethyst St. is closed to traffic, and the southbound side has been temporarily converted to accommodate two-way traffic.
Once construction is complete, northbound Canal will become two-way while southbound Canal is fully reconstructed.
This $5.3M project includes: repairing sewage, water, and drainage lines; rebuilding the street entirely; repairing sidewalks and curbs; installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps; and installing a bike lane. The project was designed by Integrated Logistical Support, Inc. and is being constructed by Palmisano Construction.
The City hosted a pre-construction community meeting to discuss anticipated construction impacts. View a copy of the presentation here.
