Construction is well underway at Stephen Girard Ave as part of the Pontilly Stormwater Project. This project will reduce flood risk and beautify green spaces in the Pontchartrain Park and Gentilly Woods neighborhoods through the construction of green infrastructure features.
Fleming Construction crews are providing residents with temporary driveways and mailboxes while they excavate the street. FEMA funded this drainage project at a cost of approximately $15M. The project is currently 14% complete.
A pre-construction community meeting was held in February at Mary D. Coghill Elementary School; view the preconstruction public meeting presentation here.
