The Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is approximately 40 percent complete. The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC. Inclement weather and unforeseen site conditions shifted the project schedule. The Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is now scheduled to be completed in early summer 2018.
The intersection of Lourdes Street and Michoud Boulevard has re-opened to traffic. Crews are currently working on the southbound travel lane between Dwyer Road and Lourdes Street.
New drainage lines have been installed from Lourdes Street to Deauville Court. This month construction crews continue to install new drainage lines from Deauville Court to Dwyer Road. As drainage work progresses, an additional crew will begin installing new sewer lines.
Traffic control signs and barrels are in place to keep residents and commuters safe. Please mind the traffic control signs and barricades and never move them from their assigned locations.
The $3.8M reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
