The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works and Sewerage & Water Board began a full reconstruction project on Bourbon Street from St. Louis to Dumaine streets (500-800 blocks) on September 17, 2018. Work will occur sequentially from the 500 to 800 blocks, with ONLY one block fenced off at a time throughout construction.  All businesses along this corridor will remain open and accessible throughout construction. The $9.5 million, cost-shared project, which is anticipated to run through June 2019, was designed by Mott McDonald, LLC and will be constructed by Hard Rock Construction, LLC.  Project partners include Entergy Electric, Entergy Gas, Cox Communications and AT&T. 

The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC has finished replacing damaged concrete panels and installing new curbs on Pittari Street between Tullis to Patterson drives.

The City’s procurement office has deemed the two responses for the contract that would rehabilitate several closed bridges in New Orleans East as non-responsive. As a result, the project is being re-bid. Considering the contract needs to meet the criteria of state bid laws and typical timelines for routing construction contracts, the City anticipates rehabilitation work will begin in early 2019.

The City’s construction contractor, Barriere Construction Co., LLC is currently 97 percent finished repaving the roadways within Joe W. Brown Memorial Park. Remaining tasks on the $1.2 million construction project include delivery and installation of new bollards and minor striping.

Command Construction Industries, LLC crews are currently 30 percent finished with the Read Boulevard West Group A project construction. This is the first of two projects planned in the neighborhood.
