MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

Public safety is our priority as we continue our infrastructure work during this trying time for our city. The wellbeing of the crews working at our job sites is also paramount, which is why we are in constant communication with our contractors to ensure that all workers are washing hands regularly, practicing social distancing on sites and furthermore, staying home if they are feeling sick in any way.

Gentilly Resilience District

The Gentilly Resilience District (GRD) is a combination of resilience programs and projects in the targeted area of Gentilly, designed to reduce flood risk, slow land subsidence, improve energy reliability and spur neighborhood revitalization. The city’s first Resilience District uses various approaches to water and land management that have been successfully piloted throughout New Orleans and, when implemented together, are intended to create even greater neighborhood benefits—such as improved health, economic opportunity, environmental education, and recreation.

WATER LINE WORK CONTINUES ON THE LOWER NINTH WARD NORTHEAST GROUP B PROJECT

Fleming Construction crews, in close collaboration with Sewerage and Water Board New Orleans, continue to focus on underground utility installations and tie-ins of water lines on the Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group B infrastructure improvement project. Crews are performing water line work in the 1800 block of Tupelo Street and plan to complete all water line work between North Derbigny and North Galvez streets during the month of December.  Residents will continue to be notified of work that will impact their access and/or cause disruption to their utilities.

LOWER NINTH WARD NORTHWEST GROUP B CONTINUES TO WORK WEEKENDS TO REMAIN ON SCHEDULE

Wallace C. Drennan, Inc. crews continue to work weekends to remain on schedule on the  Lower Ninth Ward Northwest Group B project.  Crews continue water line installations and tie-ins and have completed a substantial amount of the concrete pours along Reynes Street. Weekend work will continue through December with special considerations taken during the holidays.

WATER LINE WORK CONTINUES ON LOWER NINTH WARD SOUTH GROUP A

In December Command Construction crews continued water line installations, tie-ins and repairs on the Lower Ninth Ward South Group A infrastructure improvement project.  Crews continue water line work along Tennessee Street and plan to continue utility work in this area through the end of the year.
