Fleming Construction crews, in close collaboration with Sewerage and Water Board New Orleans, continue to focus on underground utility installations and tie-ins of water lines on the Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group B infrastructure improvement project. Crews are performing water line work in the 1800 block of Tupelo Street and plan to complete all water line work between North Derbigny and North Galvez streets during the month of December. Residents will continue to be notified of work that will impact their access and/or cause disruption to their utilities.
This $5.8M project was designed by Neel-Schaffer, Inc. and will be constructed by Fleming Construction Co, LLC.
Construction started in June 2020 and is expected to be complete in fall 2021, weather permitting. This is a full depth reconstruction, but work varies block by block:
- Replace damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repave the roadway;
- Replace damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
- Install Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
Information about this project was made available at a pre-construction public meeting on May 5, 2020. The presentation can be found here.
