The Department of Public Works is continuing to make infrastructure improvements across the city.  Beginning the week of December 2, Department of Public Works maintenance contractor Hard Rock Construction will begin four short-term maintenance projects:  two on the West Bank, one in New Orleans East and one in the Downtown Development District. 

We continue to make significant headway in fixing our infrastructure. Combining local and federal dollars, our $2.3 billion Capital Improvement Project is the most comprehensive infrastructure revamp our region has seen in decades. The City is giving new projects the go-ahead and working to keep current projects on schedule so that we can swiftly work to improve our roads.

The Lower Ninth Ward Northwest Group B project is set to break ground in early December.  This 5.7M project was designed by Burk–Kleinpeter, Inc. and will be constructed by Wallace C. Drennan,  Inc.

Crews began work on the Citrus Canal Bridge at Lake Forrest in August, and the three-

bridge refurbishment project is slated to be complete this month, weather permitting.

The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works and Sewerage & Water Board began a full reconstruction project on Bourbon Street from St. Louis to Dumaine streets (500-800 blocks) on September 17, 2018. On November 14, Mayor LaToya Cantrell joined other City officials and community partners for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the $9.5 million Bourbon Street Revitalization, Phase 2 project.
