Public safety is our top priority as we continue infrastructure work during this challenging time for our city. With hurricane season still with us, we are working with our contractors to ensure that their plans are finalized to secure sites ahead of any tropical weather event.

The St. Bernard Neighborhood Campus project is being designed with multiple benefits including increasing the number of native plantings for shade and habitat. This will decrease urban heat effects and reduce flooding by storing stormwater on-site before slowly releasing it into the drainage system.  While addressing the environmental challenges of the community is paramount, the project also aims to demonstrate that resilient neighborhood-scale stormwater management can provide benefits far beyond the initial investment by revitalizing community access to varied recreational amenities.  

Today, Mayor Cantrell held a grounbbreaking event for the $5.8M Lake Terrace and Oaks Group D roadwork project that will transform three streets (seven blocks in total) in the Lake Terrace and Oaks neighborhood by summer 2021.

Lots of activity taking place in the $18.2M Pines Village Group A infrastructure improvement project in District D.  

The Lower Ninth Ward South Group A  project began in September 2020 with the replacement of water lines on Tennessee Street. During the month of October, Command Construction crews plan to start tying these new lines into the existing water supply.
