PINES VILLAGE GROUP A CONTINUES WITH PAVEMENT RESTORATION AND SIDEWALK INSTALLATION

Crews completed all sewer line work in October and continued making progress with manhole restorations. Water line work continued, asphalt restoration began on Dwyer Road, and crews proceeded with concrete removal and replacement on Morrison Road.  Crews also began asphalt milling and installation of the roadway wearing course in the 4400-4700 blocks of Francis Drive. The approximately $18.2M project was designed by All South Consulting Engineers Inc., and is estimated to be complete in fall 2021  weather permitting. The $6.8M Village De L’est Group C project is set to begin October 2020. The project was designed by Hartman Engineering, Inc. and is being constructed by Durr Heavy Construction.

STORMWATER LOT AND GREEN ALLEYWAY CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY IN PONTILLY PROJECT

Large stormwater lots are being connected to the larger drainage system by Fleming Construction throughout the newly designated historic Pontchartrain Park neighborhood. Semi-permeable alleyways are also being completed in between each block that will allow water to be absorbed through the pavers into an aggregate base that funnels water into the city’s drainage system and away from homes and property.

PONTILLY PHASE II:  DWYER CANAL IMPROVEMENTS

Phase II of the Pontilly Neighborhood Stormwater Network will focus on improvements to the Dwyer Canal, including creating a recreational and social space that will enhance the natural beauty of the historic Pontchartrain Park and Gentilly Woods neighborhoods. The NDR grant is funding the design and construction of Phase II, and prioritizing community engagement is paramount to the success of the project.  Community feedback will provide the input that will shape the design.

FULL RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT ON CONTI UNDER WAY BETWEEN BOURBON AND ROYAL STREETS

The City is in the process of designing a full reconstruction project on Conti Street between Bourbon and Chartres streets. Entergy Gas and Entergy Electric are upgrading their utilities in advance of the city's project to avoid conflicts during construction and potential construction delays. Their work began in the 700 block of Conti Street last month.
