Barriere Construction and their subcontractor, Dieudonne Enterprises, Inc., completed curbs and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant ramps on the median of St. Charles Avenue (the streetcar track area). Crews have installed 49 new ADA ramps on the project to date and are now working on additional ramps and curbs on the east-bound side of the street; roadway asphalt work will immediately follow.
The project, which is a joint effort between the City of New Orleans and the Louisiana Department of Transportation, is 25 percent complete and expected to be wrapped up in late fall 2018.
This $1.3M project, designed by Linfield, Hunter, and Junius, LLC includes the following scope of work:
- Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb-to-curb;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at intersections;
- Repairing damaged sidewalks adjacent to ADA ramps;
- Patching in preparation for the next phase of construction; and
- Replacing street tiles.
