Hard Rock Construction, LLC crews are currently three percent complete with the $3.9 million FEMA-funded Read Boulevard East Group A Project. This is the first of six construction projects planned to improve the infrastructure in the Read Boulevard East neighborhood, which spans from Read Boulevard, I-10, I-510 and Chef Menteur Highway. The total investment for design and construction in the neighborhood is estimated at $48 million.
Crews are currently working on Little John, Friar Tuck and King Richard Drives. View the project map here. Pavement and sidewalk work may make driveways temporarily unavailable as the new surface is prepared and cures. Residents are asked to please be patient as we work to improve infrastructure conditions in these neighborhoods.
The scope work varies by block but includes the following types of work:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
The City held a public meeting to discuss the project’s construction sequencing and anticipated impacts. Learn more about the sequencing by viewing a copy of the Read Boulevard. East Group A public meeting presentation.
