Command Construction Industries, LLC crews are now 50 percent complete with the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
The two-way traffic detour on the traditionally northbound travel lane continues from 30th Street to 37th Street; however, at the 37th Street neutral ground crossover, northbound (lake) traffic has now been detoured to the traditionally southbound (river) travel lane while crews excavate the roadway and work on installing new sewer lines. Traditionally southbound travel has been re-routed to minor streets.
Concrete paving operations in the northbound travel lane and sidewalks are nearly complete as crews tie in new concrete pavement on the side streets.
An additional crew, working in the traditionally southbound travel lane, has excavated the roadway and is currently installing new sewer lines between 37th Street and Old Hammond Highway.
Residents are reminded to use caution when walking, biking and driving through active construction sites and to be mindful of onsite traffic detour signage, safety barrels and cones.
The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2018. The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
