The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, is now 40 percent complete with the first of three planned FEMA-funded construction projects in the Village de L’est neighborhood. The total value of design and construction for planned work in the neighborhood is more than $20 million.
The first contract’s scope of work was divided into 14 sections. To date, work has been completed in eight of the sections and crews are currently working in three additional sections. The scope of work varies depending on the condition of the roadway surface and underground utilities. View the project map here to see what work is planned on your block.
The type of work planned varies by block but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
