Command Construction Industries, LLC crews have now completed 76 percent of the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
Minor finishing work and landscaping remains on the northbound travel lane. All underground utilities such as water, sewer and drainage lines have been replaced.
The south (river) bound lane, between Old Hammond Highway and 30th Street continues to be closed to traffic as crews excavate and replace existing utilities. Southbound traffic has been re-routed to Pontchartrain Boulevard as crews complete installation of the new drainage lines. Drainage line work is estimated to last another couple months. Sewer line work will follow the drainage work.
Portions of the utility work planned on the southbound side of the roadway has been completed near Old Hammond Highway, and crews are on-site compacting new roadway base material.
Residents are reminded to use caution when walking, biking and driving through active construction sites and to be mindful of on-site traffic detour signage, safety barrels and cones.
The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2018, weather permitting. The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
