Public safety is our priority as we continue our infrastructure work during this trying time for our city. With hurricane season now under way, we are working with our contractors to ensure that their plans are finalized to secure sites ahead of any tropical weather event.
The well-being of the crews working at our myriad job sites is also paramount, which is why we are in constant communication with our contractors to ensure that all workers are washing hands regularly, practicing social distancing on sites and furthermore staying home if they are feeling sick in any way.
On our capital side, we currently have 17 projects under construction valued at more than $78M. Between maintenance projects and RoadworkNOLA (Joint Infrastructure Program), we currently have 47 Department of Public Works projects under construction valued at nearly $306M.
The RoadworkNOLA success stories highlighted in this newsletter include:
- District A: Command Construction crews are continuing to connect the Easton Park storage tank system to the St. Louis Canal as part of the $7.1M Hagan Lafitte Project gray-green infrastructure project. While the connection is being constructed at several locations across the Lafitte Greenway, bicycle and pedestrian traffic is being diverted onto a temporary surface adjacent to the greenway and around the construction.
- District B: The $6.3M Mid-City Group A project was designed by Infinity Engineering and is being constructed by Hard Rock Construction, LLC. The entire project was originally scheduled to be complete this fall; however, additional scope has been added. All work is now anticipated to be complete in winter 2020 / 2021.
- District C: The City is in the process of designing a full reconstruction project of Conti Street between Bourbon and Chartres streets. Entergy Gas and Entergy Electric are upgrading their utilities in advance of the city's project to avoid conflicts during construction and potential construction delays. The City plans to begin it portion of the reconstruction project (water, sewer and drainage) in October 2020.
- District D: Command Construction crews mobilized for construction on the $17.5M Milneburg Group A project July 20. The project was delayed due to added scope and re-routing of Entergy gas lines in the project area. Construction is expected to be complete in fall 2021, weather permitting.
- District E: The $5.8M Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group B project began in late June. Crews are currently excavating in preparation for installing new water and drain lines. Residents will be notified of work that will impact their access and/or cause disruption to their utilities.
Sincerely,
