The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works’ is on schedule and now more than fifty percent complete with the Bourbon Phase 2 project. Hard Rock Construction, LLC has completely demobilized all labor and materials, including fencing, from the site and backfilled open trenches two weeks in advance of Mardi Gras to minimize pedestrian and vehicular traffic disruption. The contractor will resume operations on Thursday, March 7, weather permitting, by installing fencing in the 750 block between Orleans and the St. Ann intersection, removing / replacing sidewalks in the 700 block between St. Peter and Orleans and completing sidewalk repairs on the riverside 600 block.
The contractor has now fully reconstructed the Bourbon Street roadway between St. Louis and Orleans streets (500-750 blocks) with upsized drainage, a better sewer system, new sidewalks and new, smoother pavement. Additionally, the lighting and security have been upgraded between St. Louis and St. Peter streets. Entergy Gas and Entergy Electric have also completed upgrades to their services in those blocks.
The $9.5 million cost-shared project, which is anticipated to run through summer 2019, was designed by Mott McDonald, LLC and will be constructed by Hard Rock Construction, LLC. Project partners include Entergy Electric, Entergy Gas, Cox Communications and AT&T.
