There is an unprecedented amount of infrastructure work happening in our city – altogether more than $500M on our roadways and on our vertical construction projects and there is much more to come.
For the first time in more than five years, the City has approved nearly $300M in bonds for a tax-exempt sale, which will lead to multiple projects out for advertisement in the coming months. These projects will improve our public spaces, add more stormwater storage and fix more streets. Additionally, we will have about $110M in Joint Infrastructure roadway projects, $10M in capital building projects, and $100M in green infrastructure projects out for bid in the next few months. I ask that everyone continue to be patient because these investments are truly making our city stronger and more resilient each day.
The RoadworkNOLA success stories highlighted in this newsletter include:
- District A: Boh Bros Construction Co., LLC crews continue underground utility and roadway restoration work in the Audubon neighborhood as part of the $7.3M Audubon Group A infrastructure improvement project. The project is currently scheduled to be wrapped up in summer 2021.
- District B: Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC is preparing the $4M Freret Group A infrastructure improvement project for final inspections. Upon completion of drainage and waterline work, the project will move forward with inspections in March.
- District C: The City has completed its design of an approximately $4.3M full-depth reconstruction (replacement of roadway and underground utilities) project on Conti Street (600 and 700 blocks) between Bourbon and Chartres streets. City Maintenance Contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC will begin installing a fence around the roadway for construction in March.
- District D: New streets, curbs, sidewalks, and drains highlight the improvements in the Filmore South Group A project. The $4.4M project constructed by Hard Rock Construction Co., LLC covered approximately 10 square blocks stretching from Filmore to Harrison avenues. The new streets will improve the overall quality of life for residents in the area. All work is expected to be completed in March 2021, weather permitting.
- District E: The $3.2M Pines Village Group B project is nearing completion and the contractor is working through some final clean-up and punch list items. The project is expected to be declared substantially complete in March.
