Command Construction Industries, LLC crews are now 34 percent complete with the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
Concrete paving operations began in the northbound travel lane early in January 2018 and will continue through the spring as crews install new utilities on the south side of the project limits.
A temporary travel lane reduction is now under way on Old Hammond Highway between Roy and Derbes Streets. The lane reduction, which is scheduled to last for approximately two weeks, is allowing crews to build a new manhole and connect a new water line on Fleur De Lis Drive. View the news release here.
Early in the project planning, and at the pre-construction public meeting, the project team planned to re-route southbound travel lanes to the northbound lane once it was reconstructed. However, the project scope includes widening the existing neutral ground to be consistent with the earlier Fleur de Lis Drive projects. In response, the northbound travel lane will be re-routed to Pontchartrain Boulevard as the new, narrower roadway won’t allow for safe two-way traffic on the northbound travel lane. Timing of this traffic shift is tentatively scheduled to begin in spring 2018.
Due to the increased scope and weather delays, the project is now scheduled to be complete in fall 2018.
The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
