Command Construction Industries, LLC crews began construction on the green infrastructure project on January 14, 2014. The goals of this project are to:
- Increase drainage to reduce flooding
- Utilize green infrastructure to slow, retain, and absorb storm water
- Beautify green spaces
- Replenish groundwater
- Store rainwater underground
The first phase of construction is the installation of underground storage at Easton Park, which has resulted in the complete closure of the park and adjacent facilities. In addition to the park interior, work will be happening on the perimeter of the park at the following locations:
- Toulouse (park entrance)
- St. Peter between Rendon and Lopez (park exit)
Also during this time, work will begin on the drainage improvements on Lopez starting at Lafitte going towards Toulouse.
Crews will begin laying the sewer lines on St. Peter between Salcedo and Gayoso, once it is clear around Feb 11, 2019. This work is anticipated to take approximately 2 weeks to finish. During this time residents will be able to get to access their homes, however there will be some temporary parking restrictions. Residents will be asked not to park on that block during the (work hours) day but will be able to park in front of their homes at night; as long as they are moved the next morning.
The full scope of work at the park is anticipated to last roughly 3 months (weather permitting).
Please note: We will be posting signage around the park very soon.
