Command Construction Industries, LLC crews have completed 72 percent of the Fleur de Lis Drive Phase III Reconstruction Project between 30th Street and Old Hammond Highway in the West End neighborhood.
The majority of work planned on the northbound travel lane is complete, with sidewalk and minor finishing work remaining. All underground utilities such as water, sewer and drainage lines have been replaced.
The south (river) bound lane between Old Hammond Highway and 30th Street continues to be closed to traffic as crews excavate and replace existing utilities. Southbound traffic has been re-routed to Pontchartrain Boulevard as crews finish installing the new drainage lines. Sewer line work will follow the drainage work.
A landscaping crew has completed the majority of sod planting on the northbound travel lane. Once it has taken root, residents are asked to begin mowing this grass as they would have prior to construction.
Residents should expect to see three crews on site full-time, with an extra asphalt crew addressing side street tie-in work as needed.
Residents are reminded to use caution when walking, biking and driving through this construction site and to be mindful of onsite traffic detour signage, safety barrels and cones.
The project is scheduled to be complete in fall 2018. The scope of work includes:
- Removing and replacing the underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
- Repaving the roadway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
