The Department of Public Works’ construction contractors Barriere Construction, LLC is using geotextile fabric between the base and final course of asphalt on the Fontainebleau repaving project to promote drainage and provide durability.
Barriere and Pavement Markings began the 60-day repaving project between Nashville Avenue and South Broad Avenue in May and are currently on schedule to complete the project later this month.
This $400K project includes the following scope of work:
- Removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt pavement;
- Replacing concrete panels;
- Making manhole adjustments;
- Installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at appropriate intersections;
- Completing sidewalk repairs; and
- Adding roadway striping, including a new dedicated bike lane (to be completed by Pavement Markings).
In addition to the surface repaving, the project will connect the bike system between Uptown and Mid City with a new, dedicated lane.
