Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC crews have completed the main sections of the bike and pedestrian path approaching either side of Wisner Bridge. Completion of the barrier walls that separate the path from Wisner Boulevard on the lake (north) side of the bridge brings the project to 85 percent complete. This project is now scheduled to be finished this summer.
Construction of curb extensions, path connections and ramp work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act continues at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and DeSaix Street. Traffic signals will be upgraded at both intersections to include pedestrian countdown signals.
The project scope of work includes:
- Constructing a new off-street bicycle and pedestrian path along Bayou St. John;
- Connecting the new path to the existing 12-foot-wide bicycle and pedestrian path on Wisner Bridge; and
- Establishing new bicycle and pedestrian connections across Wisner Boulevard at DeSaix Boulevard, into City Park.
