City contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC completed installation of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at the intersections of Memphis, Porteous, General Haig and Bragg streets on the Lakeview North Group A project. They also began asphalt paving and patching on Chapelle and Catina streets. The original project scope is 95 percent complete.
The City is awaiting FEMA approval on additional work that will promote positive drainage so that water flows to a lower elevation away from buildings and structures, as well as address sidewalk and roadway subsidence that was not included in the original plans. The additional areas of construction will extend the project into summer 2018.
The $2.3M project is designed to correct multiple roadway concerns and the scope of work varies block by block but includes the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
Details of the construction sequencing and timeline were first made available at the pre-construction public meeting. View a copy of the public meeting presentation and details about construction sequencing here. To be added to the project contact list, please e-mail RoadWork@nola.gov.
