The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC is approximately 80% complete with the Jackson Ave. Resurfacing Project between S. Claiborne Ave. to Tchoupitoulas St. The scope of work includes: removing and replacing top 3 inches of asphalt pavement; a waterline replacement between Clara and Willow streets; Installing American with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections; and striping one travel lane, a designated bike lane between St. Charles Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St. and a parking lane in each direction. The portion of Jackson between St. Charles Ave. and S. Claiborne Ave. will include roadway striping with one travel lane and one parking lane in each direction.
All work on Jackson Ave. between S. Claiborne Ave. and St. Charles Ave. is completed. On Jackson Ave. between St. Charles Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St, crews have completed the majority of sidewalk repairs. Permanent asphalt between St. Charles Ave. and Tchoupitoulas St. will be placed by mid-March. Crews will begin striping the roadway once all asphalt work is completed.
The overall project began in September 2016 and is expected to be complete by the beginning of April 2017.
