The Michoud Boulevard Reconstruction Project is approximately 46 percent complete. The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC. Inclement weather and unforeseen site conditions shifted the project schedule, which will now be completed in summer 2018.
Crews have finished installing new sewer and drainage lines from Lourdes Street to Dwyer Road. This month, crews will be installing the new water lines and re-paving the roadway in concrete between Lourdes Street and Dwyer Road.
Pending weather, traffic controls will be shifted to prepare for utility work on the river bound lane at the end of March.
Traffic control signs and barrels are in place to keep residents and commuters safe. Please mind the traffic control signs and barricades and never move them from their assigned locations.
The $3.8M reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
