The Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, is now 35 percent complete with the first of three planned FEMA-funded construction projects in the Village de L’est neighborhood. The total value of planned work in the neighborhood is more than $20M.
The first contract’s scope of work was divided into 14 Sections. To date, work has been completed in six of the sections and crews are currently working in sections 7 and 8.
The type of work planned varies by block, but will include the following:
- Patch Mill / Overlay: Repaving the asphalt roadway from curb to curb and repairing damaged sidewalks;
- Patch Concrete: Removing damaged portions of the concrete roadway and replacing it with new smooth concrete pavement;
- Incidental Road Repairs: Removing damaged portions of the asphalt roadway and replacing it with new smooth pavement; and
- Non-Paving Incidentals: Repairing damaged sidewalks, driveway aprons and curbs within the public right-of-way.
