Today, the City of New Orleans announced an engagement opportunity for residents to learn about an upcoming roadwork project. Construction on the $5.1 million bond-funded Octavia Street (Freret-Claiborne) project is scheduled to begin next month and will be complete in early winter 2021, weather permitting.
Residents can find out more about this project at a pre-construction community meeting, during which the sequence of construction, schedule, construction impacts, etc., will be shared. This meeting will be accessible via Webex; participants are encouraged to pre-register at nola.gov/neoevents.
When: Monday, March 29, 2021, 6 p.m.-7 p.m. | Dial-in Number: 504-658-7001 | Access Code: 996 738 694
A copy of the presentation will be sent to all registrants and uploaded to roadwork.nola.gov/projects prior to the meeting.
Repairs will include:
- Replacing/repairing damaged underground water, sewer and/or drainage lines;
- Repairing damaged curbs and gutters;
- Patching the roadway with asphalt;
- Replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons;
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
In general, the contractor will work from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday–Friday; however, there may be delays due to weather or other circumstances that cause the contractor to work later and/or on the weekends.
