On May 26, a $190K improvement project began on Lawrence from Sumner to Shirley/dead end (pictured). In addition to pouring new concrete sidewalks and a bike/walk pathway on Shirley at Lawrence, crews are also making drainage improvements at Saux and Lawrence.
New sidewalks have been installed along Wall Boulevard, and the City of New Orleans is moving forward on safety and complete streets improvements along Wall between General De Gaulle Drive and Holiday Drive. Proposed improvements along this corridor include replacing and repairing concrete panels and joints, adding ADA-compliant curb ramps where sidewalks exist, installing protected bike lanes, improving access to bus stops, and repairing sidewalks.
A $37K roadway upgrade will take place on Homer Street, as the road will be milled and overlaid with a new roadway surface from Hendee to the dead end. Pavement on General Meyers from Sullen to Bennett is currently being restored as part of a $1.5M improvement project.
Two additional mill and overlay projects in the area include Diana Street from Behrman to Numa/dead end, and Aurora from Norland to Kingston. These two city-funded projects represent more than $264K worth of improvements.
