The Michoud Blvd. Reconstruction Project is approximately 25 percent complete. Last month construction crews installed new utility lines and drainage manholes at the intersection of Lourdes Street and Michoud Boulevard. The intersection is currently being repaved in concrete and will re-open after Thanksgiving.
A traffic shift is scheduled to occur the first week of December as Phase III of the project begins. The traffic shift includes closing the northbound travel lane between Dwyer Road and Lourdes Street to traffic while construction crews shift to performing tasks on the southbound travel lane between Dwyer Road and Lourdes Street. View the planned construction sequencing and traffic shift here.
The $3.8M reconstruction project includes:
- Installing a new bus turnaround on Dwyer Road;
- Replacing the existing water, sewer and drainage lines from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in concrete between the Michoud Bridge and Dwyer Road;
- Repaving the roadway in asphalt from the Michoud Bridge to Chef Menteur Highway; and
- Installing new sidewalks and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.
The project was designed by Evans-Graves Engineers, Inc. and is being built by Cycle Construction Company, LLC and scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.
