Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020 at 7 a.m. through Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020 at 5 p.m., the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works' contractor, Wallace C. Drennan Inc., will temporarily close the intersection and neutral ground at Reynes Street and North Claiborne Avenue to install upsized drainage as part of the FEMA-funded $5.6 million Lower Ninth Ward Northwest Group B project.
Northbound traffic on North Claiborne Avenue will be rerouted to Caffin Avenue and then to LA-46 (St. Claude Avenue). During this time, the street will be open to local traffic only. Access to homes and businesses within the closure area will be maintained.
Public safety is the City's priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near the construction site. Lane closure and detour signs will be in place throughout this phase of construction.
